What is propolis?

Propolis is made by bees using resins collected from plants. It is sometimes referred to as “bee glue” as it is often used for caulking or sealing as well as protecting the hive with its antimicrobial properties. Propolis also has a long history of use as a natural health product. It contains many essential vitamins and minerals, and is believed to have properties that support health, healing and immunity.

What makes New Zealand propolis special?

New Zealand’s pristine natural environment is home to unique natural plant species like manuka, as well as deciduous trees like Poplar, Willow and Birch which produce natural sap and resins containing very high levels of bioflavonoids, which are believed to be very beneficial to human health.

What is bioflavonoids?

Bioflavonoids are the natural pigments found in fruit and vegetables, although Propolis contains much higher levels than these sources.

Why is Hum Propolis special?

While other producers may combine local and imported propolis in their products, Hum Propolis products are 100% New Zealand made and sourced directly from the hives of Tweeddale Apiaries in New Zealand’s King Country district. This ensures that you are receiving 100% pure, high-quality New Zealand propolis every time.
